Why would one want to use the latest technology to produce Plein Air Paintings? Painting on location for the past twenty-plus years has given me great joy and a large collection of field studies. These studies now supply authentic information that I can use as reference material for newly rendered work.The experience of actually being there, absorbing details that one cannot get any other way, contributes to being able to re-imagine a scene, or subject, in a different way. The hassle-free medium of digital painting that does not require set-up or clean-up time, offers less frustration in keeping my equipment pliable and ready without the convenience of a studio enables me to paint instantly. My reluctance to develop a working friendship with the computer is being replaced with a revitalized impulse to create new works and to revisit older pieces with more energy and fewer bug bites!
